Bible Study Groups

OPPC has three wonderful Bible Study groups.

Please contact the office for more information.

WEEKLY TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY

Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. in the oppc library (beginning sept. 12)

The Weekly Bible Study will resume on Sept. 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Library!  We’ll be studying the Gospel of Mark using Mark: Discover Jesus (18 Bible Study Discussion) by Q Place.  Copies of the study will be made available in the office for $12. Please join us for a fun, interactive way to grow deeper as you follow Jesus.

Tuesday Night Bible Study

Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm in the OPPC Library (Beginning Sept. 19)

This fall, we'll be covering a new general Protestant confession, just released by a group of scholars and theologians in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, called the "Reforming Catholic Confession".

Taught by Ken Smith, a friend of our church and theologically trained, the Adult Bible Study meets on Tuesday nights in the OPPC library, starting September 19th.  We hope you’ll join us this fall to learn about the great debates and prayers, the saints and the sinners, of the unexpectedly holy catholic Church.

Women's Fellowship and Bible Study ~ Cloud of witnesses

3rd Wednesday, 10:00 - 12:00 Pm in the OPPC Library (Beginning Sept. 20)

The Book of Hebrews is unlike any other writing int he New Testament.  Its authorship is not determined and its nine major themes which cover theology, metaphor, comparisons and spirituality relate to other parts of our faith traditions. The author of the study, “Cloud of Witnesses: The Community of Christ in Hebrews”, Melissa Ban Sevier, ties them all together with the overarching motif of community.

The author approaches Hebrews through the lenses of peace, peacemaking and hope and includes in the lessons women who have been part of the Cloud of Witnesses to the faith in Jesus the Christ.

Each lesson is based on the community of faith that supports and surrounds each of us in our own journey of faith. We will be guided through our discussion to recognize and appreciate the communities of which we are a part.

All women of the church are invited to participate as the Presbyterian Morning Circle meets on the third Wednesday of each month, September to June, in the library at 10:00 a.m. for friendship, study and lively sharing as we learn together. Nor reservations are required - just come join us.

Golden Rule Men's Bible Study

Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30 am in the OPPC Library

Our Bible Study meets the first three Tuesday mornings each month at 7 a.m. in the library. Each session is started by the taking of prayer requests by our leader for that day. This gives each of us the opportunity to share the concerns in our lives as well as those in need of support in our church family. The leader then introduces the DVD or CD presentation for the day – usually a 30 minute lecture from the Learning Company; a spirited discussion follows. These discussions sometimes range beyond the topic of the lecture, with humorous insight always appreciated.

The leader for the day brings the doughnuts: fresh coffee is ready when we arrive. The leader for the day rotates; at present, with 14 members, this privilege comes up about every 4 months. The fourth Tuesday finds us enjoying fellowship and a hearty breakfast at Denny’s in Redmond.

Please come join us as we seek to learn more about the foundations of our faith. As with so many activities at OPPC, we feel the bonding love of Christ in our fellowship.
